Coming Up..! WINTER WORKSHOPS @ The RCC

Alien Art Attack with Lisa Gildea
If you were an Alien, where would you come from and what would you look like?  In this digital media workshop you will use computers and digital cameras to turn your portrait into an imaginary alien!  Learn new computer skills to mix and muddle pictures of your-self, objects, drawing, special effects and much more to make and print your own alien portrait!!
Dates: Saturday 1st November – 6th December

Project Yourself with Mhairi Sutherland
Visual arts workshops with a difference, creating images through photography, drawing, doodling and experimenting with size and scale. Create huge images from tiny drawings! Photograph cool stuff! Mid winter will be brightened up with projections of colour, drawings and funky faces in this wonderful workshop.

MONTHLY WORKSHOP

WTITE FOR YOUR LIFE: Creative Writing with Monica Corish
Dates:    20 Sept, 11 Oct, 8 Nov & 6 Dec 2008 
Times:    Saturdays 1pm - 5pm

Ages:     18+
Monica Corish’s writing has featured on Sunday Miscellany and Lyric’s FM’s Quiet Quarter and she will be the featured poet in the February 2009 edition of The Stinging Fly poetry magazine.  Monica is trained as an Amherst Writers Artist (AWA) writing group leader. In AWA writing groups the group write in response to prompts, and read and respond to each other work, within guidelines designed to generate strong & authentic writing. The method works equally well with new and experienced writers.


ONE DAY PRE -  CHRISTMAS WORKSHOP

FUSED GLASS JEWELLERY with Sara Greavu

Dates:     Saturday 8 November 2008
Times:     Saturday 1pm - 5pm

Ages:     16+
In this 1-day workshop participants will learn the skills to produce dichroic glass jewellery (at least 6 pieces), which can be given as Christmas gifts. This course focuses on making the glass elements for use in jewellery. Participants will learn the techniques of making fused glass jewellery by making their own glass pieces, such as pendants, earrings and rings.


ADULT EVENING WORKSHOPS

JUST PAINTING with Frank Saucian

Dates:     7 October – 18 November (6 weeks)
Times:     Tuesdays 7pm - 9pm
Prices:      €120 / €100*

In this 6-week workshop participants will bring all their senses into play to create paintings, which are spontaneous and at the same time artistically interesting and unique.The emphasis is on helping the participants to find enjoyment in expressing themselves through painting, within a relaxed group environment.
This workshop is suitable for anyone and no special skill is required.

INTERNET BASICS with Christian Gehrke
Dates:     9 October – 20 November (6 weeks)
Times:     Thursdays 7pm - 9pm
Prices:     €120 / €100*

This 6-week workshops course will go over the basics of the Internet and give any beginner web user the tools and resources to successfully use the Internet. Topics will include: an overview of the tools used such as a browser and an email viewer, successful searching, how to view and share media such as photos and videos and how to safely purchase goods online.

FILMMAKING FOR BEGINNERS with David Chernick
Dates:     7 October – 2 December (8 weeks)
Times:     Tuesdays 7pm - 9pm
Prices:      €160 / €120*

This hands-on 8-week workshop will cover the essential elements of making a movie.  From writing a short screenplay, through pre-production, shooting and editing, you will use state of the art cameras, screenwriting and video editing software to make the film that's in your head.


Please note all workshops must be paid for in advance and there is a maximum of 10 participants per workshop.
